About this Course

Participants in this Online Workshop will explore the Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices highlighted in the NCTM publication Principles to Actions through a series of 9 modules. Each module will introduce participants to one of the Effective Teaching Practices and allow time for participants to apply the Practices in their classroom. This will be a virtual class for teachers and coaches in high school.

Meet the Instructor

Photo of Stephen MillerWith over 40 years in education, Steve Miller is the Mathematics Content Consultant for the Summit Educational Service Center. In that role, he provides K-12 mathematics professional development, curriculum writing/mapping support, and assistance in selecting mathematics resources.

Steve is one of the authors of NCTM’s new series “Taking Action: Implementing Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices”.He facilitated Common Core State Standards for Mathematics training as a Regional Content Facilitator for ODE and has developed, coordinated, and facilitated OMAP and IMPACT trainings. Steve served as a facilitator for the Mathematics Coaching Program, on the OPT 6th Grade Rangefinder Committee and as the Regional Value-Added Specialist for the Akron Public Schools. He currently is a member of the ODE's Network of Regional Leaders for mathematics
